D38 has an extremely lean administration and despite a growing student population has significantly scaled back the number of administrators in the past ten years.  Faced with shrinking state funding, the district cut administrative positions rather than teachers. In 2009, 12 administrators were employed at the district level. Today, in 2018, there are 5.

D38 operates with a much leaner administration budget than other El Paso County school districts.  Salaries and benefits for administrators in D38 account for 8.6% of all employee salaries and benefits in FY16-17 (the latest data published on CDE's website), which is one of the lowest in all of El Paso County.  You can view a comparison by districts HERE and find more data on district revenues and expenditures across the state of Colorado HERE
